New book of poems, lyrics captures transformative power of art
Manu Rodriguez releases ‘Songs [Still!] Waiting for a Rock Band’
EDINBURGH, Scotland– Published writer Manu Rodriguez returns to the literary world with the release of “Songs [Still!] Waiting for a Rock Band” (published by AuthorHouse UK). His latest collection of work encapsulates his enduring hunger for life and love for music, rendered in exquisitely nuanced poetry.
Music has always been a constant part of the author’s life. As a baby, his mother sang Zarzuela songs in order to, in his own words, tame his rebellious character. He tried to learn to play the piano and, later, the guitar but according to him, “I never could; not just because of my disability and psychomotricity problems, but, I think, because I did not persist day after day.” It was his dream to form a rock band as an avenue for mixing his feelings with music.
“But that (forming a band) remained a fantasy, a dream,” Rodriguez says. “So I started writing poems, lyrics, songs inspired by other songs and by that time I was living.”
“Songs [Still!] Waiting for a Rock Band” brings together some of these writings, a bilingual (English/Spanish) collection of prose, poems and lyrics that illustrate the power of art to transcend differences and connect people in shared experience. Musician Calum Carlyle has this to say about the book:

About the Author
Manu Rodriguez was born in Sevilla. A Spanish author, he has written books in both Spanish and English.
